2 Nephi 3

Chapter 3

Joseph in Egypt saw the Nephites in vision—He prophesied of Joseph Smith, the latter-day seer; of Moses, who would deliver Israel; and of the coming forth of the Book of Mormon. About 588–570 B.C.

Short and sweet today:

One sentence struck me today: And out of weakness he shall be made strong.

Sometimes I feel pretty weak.  It's comforting to know that if I strive to be obedient that through the Atonement I can be made strong in my weakness.

  1. The last verse has always touched me, "Joseph thou art little,"

Joseph received so much instruction by revelation when "he was little". He did rember them.

We, as parents/teachers do not know how our actions/lesson will touch the "little" ones we teach.

  2. I wonder how Joseph Smith was feeling, or what he was thinking as he translated this chapter? Its all about him and the wonderful things he would do. And to know that Joseph of Egypt in the Bible, who lived all those many years ago, knew about him! And to be compared to Moses? I have a feeling it inspired him and gave him determination to continue with the work, no matter what. Showing him the great importance of what he was to do.

I am so grateful for his strength through adversity, his endurance to the end, his dedication to the work and his love of the Lord and the people. I am glad he fought Satan and didn't stop, despite being tarred and feathered, mocked, suffering in jail, and losing children. The bookmark I use for my readings has this scripture on it: D & C 135:3 - Joseph Smith, the Prophet and Seer of the Lord, has done more, save Jesus only, for the salvation of men in this world, than any other man that ever lived in it." Lets honour his name and his work.

  3. I am with Launa on this one... the comment that struck me was also....Thou art little.... I try to substitute my name in scriptures sometimes to give a clearer meaning to me personally. This was one... I am not a child, but I still am "so little" in so many things. I have a lot to learn.
