Chapter 7

Lehi’s sons return to Jerusalem and invite Ishmael and his household to join them in their journey—Laman and others rebel—Nephi exhorts his brethren to have faith in the Lord—They bind him with cords and plan his destruction—He is freed by the power of faith—His brethren ask forgiveness—Lehi and his company offer sacrifice and burnt offerings. The resounding message of this chapter for me was to not forget what the Lord has done for us.  I think it's easy for us to remember him in good times and forget him or question him when things get tough.

It's not an easy lesson to learn.

But, in verse 15 we learn that it is up to us.  It's our choice.  Do we choose to remember or choose to forget?

  1. That is exactly what jumped out at me in this chapter
When I read the word "remember" I think of the Sacrament Prayers.
Then there is even more to ponder.

  2. I love that in verse 12, it tells us once again that the Lord is able to do all things according to his will, for the children of men, if it so be that they exercise faith in him. Because of my crazy schedule and trying to fit everything in, I have actually been listening to the Book of Mormon on my phone as I drive my daughter to and from school each day. When I was listening today, it's as if the narrator slowed down and put emphasis on the whole "if we have faith in him" part. He can help us with ANYTHING, but do we always have the faith to know that he will. I hate to admit it, but sometimes I think I lack in the faith department a little bit and I am sure grateful for my kids who remind me of the faith on a child on a daily basis!
