1 Nephi 10

Chapter 10

Lehi predicts that the Jews will be taken captive by the Babylonians—He tells of the coming among the Jews of a Messiah, a Savior, a Redeemer—Lehi tells also of the coming of the one who should baptize the Lamb of God—Lehi tells of the death and resurrection of the Messiah—He compares the scattering and gathering of Israel to an olive tree—Nephi speaks of the Son of God, of the gift of the Holy Ghost, and of the need for righteousness. About 600–592 B.C.

I love how we are only 10 chapters into the Book of Mormon and we have already had 3 visions of the Savior.  The BoM it truly another testament of Jesus Christ.

I also love Nephi's testimony of the Savior: He is the same yesterday, today and forever; and he prepared the way for all men from the world.

Then he lets us know what our obligations are: repent, come unto him, diligently seek him, remember him.

And if we do these things the mysteries of God will be unfolded  by the power of the Holy Ghost.

What a wonderful promise.

The Book of Mormon truly has eternal truths in it- plain and simple to understand.

  1. I love that knowledge is a gift from God through the Holy Ghost for those who diligently seek it. If we aren't looking, we are not going to find. It reminds me of the picture of Christ standing at the door waiting for us to let Him in. All we have to do is open the door! We just need to diligently seek for knowledge and it will be given to us. And... it is a gift for everyone. Can you imagine if the whole world suddenly opened there eyes in the morning and saw a pretty, wrapped present sitting there just for them? Is this really any different?

  2. I found the references to the Power of the Holy Ghost in this chapter motivating. All the mysteries, questions that we may have now will be answered by the power of the Holy Ghost v 19.

I have the my own list of questions, if I exhibit the faith that Nephi had, I can and will receive the answers I desire. Nephi spent the time and effort to receive the answers he wanted.

  3. I highlighted verse 6 in my book. "Wherefore all mankind were in a lost and in a fallen state, and ever would be save they should rely on this Redeemer." This scripture is mostly talking about our sins and the atonement I believe, but we can RELY on the Redeemer in many other ways also. If you are going through a tough time, make sure you rely on the Redeemer, and you will find the load lighter and the path easier when he is walking beside you.
