-----------

This chapter is full of great lessons about faith, doubt, thanksgiving,God's will, blessings, scriptures, obedience, prophesying and such.

I don't mind that Sariah complains.  In fact, I'm glad she does.  It's nice to know she wasn't perfect.  Right or wrong, it makes me feel not so bad when I feel not-so-chipper about things.

I love the fact that after the boys' weeks-long journey, upon their return the first thing they all do is stop everything and give thanks. And it's not just a quick prayer of thanksgiving.  They had to prepare a sacrifice (I'm assuming animal- which must have been difficult in and of itself to do, seeing that they had been living in the dessert for quite a while and food was most likely not bountiful) and also a burnt offerings.

Only After they gave thanks did Lehi looked at the records.  And- not only did he look but he Searched them from the beginning.

I feel good in the fact that that is what I am trying to do with the Book of Mormon: not just look at it, but Search it from the beginning.  My testimony of this great book has grown so much since I started this last year, and I look forward to reading it through again!

  1. The interchange shows alot about family relationships. Even way back then. If Dad does something to put the kids in danger, mom gets pretty testy about it. But he validated her comments and agreed that he was a visionary man. I don't think they both meant it in the same way because I think she was using it in a not-so-nice twist. It wasn't until the boys were back home that she really calmed down. I really relate to Sariah today. It's hard to have faith when our children are out-and-about and I struggle with peace until they are safely back where I know they are okay.

  2. I liked verse 21 in this chapter. They searched the brass plates and found them desirable. Love that word, makes it sound so delicious that you just can't wait to have some! The word desirable is also used in the Tree of Life descriptions which is coming up very soon! :) Then he says the writings on the brass plates were of great worth, containing the commandments of the Lord which they could teach their children. The scriptures are of great worth to me, and I hope that I can teach my children to treasure them also. How do you teach your children this?
