What must their reality, their lives, have been like- to be in such a constant state of peace and war. I can't even imagine!
Verse 18- The Nephites had so much contention among themselves that they literally "let their guard down" which allowed the Lamanites access into their cities. It makes me wonder how often we, as individuals, get caught up in our day to day lives and "drama" that we let our spiritual guards down and allow Satan access to our testimonies, or beliefs, our self-esteem? Do we allow him to penetrate the sacred, and supposed guarded, walls of our homes when our focus is on worldly things? This one was a thinker for me.

Peace and war.... I realize this morning that sometimes we fight the wrong battles. Allow the wrong freedoms. Trust the wrong people. When doing what you feel was right actually turned out to be wrong it can be quite a rude awakening. Sometimes we allow Satan to penetrate the walls of our homes, not because we are doing something wrong (wordly things,etc.) but because we are not doing everything that we can that is right.
