Free For All Friday- Ensign March 2008
The March 2008 edition of the Ensign was dedicated to the learning and worshiping of Jesus Christ.
In the article titled, "Who is Jesus Christ?" by President Boyd K. Packer, he speaks to the necessity of the Atonement, specifically the pain that comes with proper repentance. He says, "If punishment is the price repentance asks, it comes at bargain price. Consequences, even painful ones, protect us. So simple a thing as a child's cry of pain when his finger touches fire can teach us that. Except for the pain, the child might be consumed."
How beautifully put! We tend to look at pain as a bag thing because, well it hurts. But that very pain is the deterrent to greater pain, and potential destruction. It must not be easy for Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ to see us hurt, but how they rejoice in our learning, repentance and growth.
