Mosiah 3

Mosiah 3

What a beautiful chapter about the Savior- and it was written over 100 years before the Savior came.

King Benjamin made it very clear a number of times: Salvation ONLY comes through Jesus Christ, and FAITH in Him.  It's so beautifully written.

Not much I can add to this.  It's perfect.

What did you think/learn today?

  1. What I think/learned is that reading scriptures has become such an important part of my day that I truly do not do as well when I miss it. And I have missed it. =)

So this is more of a question than a comment. What level of evil constitutes being filled with an evil spirit that can be cast out? Is there some tell-tale sign? Just wondering out loud.

There are so many things to learn and be reminded of in this chapter. For me, it was the admonishment of being like a little child and having those tender attributes.

  2. I have a lot to say today, so you'll have to bear with me, lol. First off, one new thing I noticed in the list he gives in verse 19 of what we should be like is "willing to submit to all things which the Lord seeth fit to inflict upon him..." That means we don't whinge and whine at the Lord when hard times come. I can relate to that right now.

In verse 13 he talks about how the prophets are sent to declare to every nation about Christ and the Gospel etc. I just watched a clip on facebook this morning, which came from the Ensign page if I remember right, which was a wonderful testimony from Elder Ballard of the Twelve Apostles. I shared it on my page too. One of the things he talks about is how with modern technology it is so much easier to preach the gospel to the world now. This scripture continues to be fulfilled today in 2012 and will be till the end of time.

Lastly I wanted to talk about verse 9 and 17 where it talks about how salvation comes through Christ.
Hilary Weeks sings a great song entitled "Through his name" that I wanted to share the words of:
Wish there was a copy of it on you tube, but I can't find one, cause the music is stirring.

    Holy One,
    God over all the earth,
    Lord of Lords,
    Child of humble birth.

    Bread of life,
    Shepherd of our souls,
    Sinless Son,
    Born to lead us home.

    Through his name,
    Through his name,
    We can be saved,
    We can be saved,
And we can live with him again,
Through the power of his name.

    Prince of Peace,
    The Bright and Morning Star,
    Lamb of God,
    Captain of our hearts,
Author, and Finisher of our faith,
    Almighty God,
    Conqueror of the grave.

    Through his name,
    Through his name,
    We can be saved,
    We can be saved,
And we can live with him again,
Through the power of his name.
