There's the time for preaching and talking.
Then there's time for action.
Jarom was a man of action.
He says in the first few verses that he won't record any prophecies, etc. It had all been said.
Then, in verse 3 he says, "Behold, it is expedient that much should be done among his people..."
To be learned is good, but to be actively engaged in a good cause, better.
Faith is a verb.
