2 Nephi 30

Chapter 30

Converted Gentiles will be numbered with the covenant people—Many Lamanites and Jews will believe the word and become delightsome—Israel will be restored and the wicked destroyed. About 559–545 B.C.

I think it's interesting how it says that there will be no secrets and, in turn, Satan's power will be diminished.

I think we tend to look at the Adversary as this bold, out in the open threat.  But there is so much evil that takes place in dark corners, behind closed doors and in secret.  That is where Satan gains a great deal of his power- in secret combinations and in darkness.

The Adversary is a threat.  But, soon he and his ways will be exposed.  There will be no secrets and no place to hide.  And when everyone can see him for who and what he really is, he will be powerless.

That is the power in knowledge and testimony: When we recognize him and his tactics, we have power over him.

That is an empowering thought for the day!

  1. You are so right! I have a friend who would talk about getting the light into dark corners. We often hear about skeletons in the closet. Hiding under a rock. Behind closed doors. All those platitudes about secrecy and darkness.

It reminds me of a story from our history. The British would get so frustrated at the Colonial Militia because they "didn't fight fair." The Americans would hide behind trees and sniper shoot the British. The British had red coats and straight lines, but they couldn't comprehend the style of fighting of our soldiers. It's a backwards story, because we are glad that America won. Point being....

Satan doesn't fight fair. We may have our bright colors, burning testimonies and straight lines. We need to understand that Satan is hiding behind the trees waiting to sniper shoot us at any given opportunity. We have to comprehend his style to be able to fight effectively. And this enemy is so much older, wiser, and coniving than we sometimes give him credit for.

I, for one, look forward to a time being able to rest from the battle against Satan. In the meantime, working hard each day to filter out the negative, bring in the positive and keep my eyes on the path God wants to me to follow is my focus. Someday that path will hopefully lead to a vacation.

  2. I have had a really hard week, so I am really looking forward to the days when we rest, our hardships are over, and satan can't take sniper shots at us anymore too. :) I also loved the verse in this chapter that talked about the animals all laying beside each other peaceably with the children. If I didn't have those days to look forward to, life would be really hard to get through sometimes. I don't know how people cope who don't have that knowledge. We are so blessed to be in this gospel.
