Along the same vein as yesterday, in vs 13 the Lord Himself, speaking of the record of the events of the BoJ said, "Come unto me, O ye Gentiles, and I will show unto you the greater things, the knowledge which is hid up because of unbelief."
Belief (faith) leads to gaining knowledge. It's a powerful lesson.
The experience of BoJ happened thousands of years ago- We're talking Genesis 11 long time ago (shortly after Noah.) This experience of the BoJ has been kept sacred and hidden until the people were ready- thousands and thousands of years- until we came along. It has been saved for us, from nearly the beginning of this earth!
The Lord knew we would get in the last days waaaaaaaay back in the beginning. This is a testament to the solidity of the Plan of Salvation and the Gospel. The Kingdom of God did not 'just end up this way.' The gospel on the earth (all-inclusive: church, priesthood, scripture, prophets, etc) has been not only purposefully orchestrated, but prophesied from the beginning of time (think Adam & Eve) and even before that (Pre-existence.)
That understanding is very comforting to me, because that tells me that the winding up days are just as organized and planned out as everything else, that God and Jesus Christ know exactly what is going on, and that I have exercise my faith and follow them I will be alright. I love that :)

The BoJ faith has always been amazing to me. Such an example. I would do well to strengthen my own faith, find ways to be closer to my Father in Heaven.
ReplyDeleteThen I would be a more useful tool in the Lord's hands.
I don't think that BoJ had such great faith all at once. While we do not have a record of the things that he did to increase his faith, I don't believe that it is anything different from the things or latter-day prophets ask us to do.
Another testimony of the truthfulness the church. Gospel principles are the same today, yesterday and tomorrow.
I will pray for and pay special attention to our prophets as they speak at conference. I am confident that faith increasing counsel will be given.
Then, it will be my duty to follow.
"And whatsoever thing persuadeth men to do good is of me; for good cometh of none save it be of me."
ReplyDeleteThis part of the verse stuck out to me, I think, because I listened to Pres Uchtdorf's talk from Women's Conference and was reading the talk on "be vs do" last night.....
We should BE good.... not only to others, but to ourselves. By being good.... we are closer to the Lord. Even if we are persuading ourselves to be good, that is still coming from God. We get the double blessing of being and doing at the same time.
Random... I know. But it made sense in my head.

ReplyDeleteIt is a powerful testimony of the love God has for us that these records were saved for our day.
I just finished the Book of Mormon and will be starting it over again. I do hae such a deep love for this book.
