Helaman 1

Helaman 1

If it's not one thing, it's another!  I hear the voice of my mother channel through me as I read this: "Why can't you all just get along?!"

Coriantumr was rash and greedy- besides being evil- and he paid he paid a dear price for it. The Nephites benefited however.

Interesting note: It took me a minute to realize the events of this chapter took place over two years. The way Mormon abridged it made it seem like it happened in a week or so.

I had a hard time really gleaning anything profound this morning  Here's where you come in: What did you get out of it?

  1. The beginning of the chapter is a lesson in sibling rivalry and disagreements, and the dangers it can cause. Some siblings get along great, others don't want anything to do with each other. With the help of Christ's teachings, we can bridge any differences and learn to love. Family ties are important in the Gospel plan.

Coriantumr needed a lesson in being humble. He got too big for his boots thinking he was all powerful and mighty. It was good to see that the Nephites got back the city of Zarahemla that they lost to Coriantumr and his Lamanite army.
