Moroni 7:20-48
Moroni 7:20-48
Happy Thanksgiving!! I am so thankful for the scriptures today, and the gospel in my life!!
Some cool thoughts here- but the best part (at least for me) is at the bottom.
I love how Mormon writes. He poses a question, then answers it.
How can ye lay hold on every good thing? (20) By faith (26)
Have miracles ceased because Christ ascended into heaven? (27) No (29) (37)
Have angels ceased appearing among men? (36) No. (37)
How can we obtain the faith, if we don'y have hope? (40) What should we hope for then? (41) We should have hope of eternal life through Christ (41)
A few other really cool points that are sprinkled throughout here:
Angels are subject to the Savior, and minister to us here on earth at His command (30)
Angels appear to us by our faith (37)
...in every form of godliness (30). Not sure the exact meaning- but I love the phrase. We are all created in His image, and I assume it means that the greater the faith, the more we look like Him.
The words of Christ have power to save, ONLY if we have faith in them (38)
To me, hope is a powerful word. In my mind, hope is more about the outcome, faith is more about the person.
Let me explain: We have hope that we can be healed, that we can be saved, that we can feel peace. We have hope in a better world, a better time, a better us.
That hope drives us to find a way for that to happen. We find that those things can all happen through Christ. the Spirit testifies that to us on some level, and we begin to have faith in Him, that the things hoped for can come true.
With hope and faith combined, we put ourselves in the position to have charity- a condition of the heart when hope meets faith and they grow together.
This condition of the heart moves us change our perspectives, to see ourselves and others differently. We are happier, we understand more, we rejoice in truth more. And we hope more. (46) And the cycle goes on and on. Forever (47)
And how do we get this? Prayer (48)
The Savior had hope (48). His hope was for our eternal salvation - to be as He is. His hope that we can be saved fueled his faith in Father's plan, and the charity He had for us. Jesus Christ's hope led to faith, which led to charity, which led to His Atonement for us.
Our hope can lead to faith in Him, which can lead to charity, which can lead us to enabling the power of the Atonement on our lives.
That is all He wants- for us to be like Him (48).
Beautiful.

HOPE, FAITH and CHARITY
To me, hope is a powerful word. In my mind, hope is more about the outcome, faith is more about the person.

Beautiful.
My focus this morning is on charity. Charity is SO much more than giving service or donating to your favorite cause... charity...
ReplyDeletesuffereth long (to BE charity- you cannot give up on that which is right)
is kind (to BE charity- you have to be kind, not just to the people you like, but those you don't and to the animals too)
envieth not(to BE charity- you cannot worry about what he has or what she does)
is not puffed up(to BE charity- you cannot worry about what YOU did or what YOU have)
seeketh not her own (to BE charity- you cannot be selfish or self-centered, you have to look outside yourself first)
not easily provoked(to BE charity- you have to think before you act/speak and have a long fuse that only gets lit over things of great importance- and know the difference)
thinketh no evil (always have a primary song floating around your head)
rejoices in truth (get excited over the things that really matter, but keep an open mind because there is truth everywhere- recognize Godly truth and then you can recognize evil- because that is a type of truth as well)
beareth all things ( quit whining)
believeth all things( have faith, develope your knowledge, seek and find)
hopeth all things (when you wish on a star... )
endureth all things (don't give up on this life, because the next one is going to be so much better... have an eternal perspective)
If you don't have- if you are not- charity... you are nothing because charity is the pure love of Christ. Pray to be full of this kind of love... so when he comes again we will be like him and therefore- able to recognize him
By their fruits you shall know them.... Apparently by YOUR fruits... you shall know HIM.
