There was a lot in this chapter to love and think about. One thing in particular, for me, was the stark difference between the learned and the wise.
I once heard that the difference between a smart man and a wise man was their motivation and intention. I tend to agree. There are sooooo many people sooooo much smarter than me, but, I know I am wise, because of the righteous desires of what I want to do with what knowledge I have.
I would much rather be a wise person who didn't know a lot, that an extremely intelligent person who causes damage with their perceived knowledge (Darwin, Freud).
I love that God acknowledges He is a God of miracles. A miracle is merely science we don't understand, but to know that He understands all, and is willing to show us certain things, even though we don't understand how He does them (and even why sometimes) shows His great mercy and love.
The talk at the beginning of the chapter about how the wicked man is living in a dream struck me as well. For now, they might think they are winning, but there will be a day when the look at their hands and they will be empty, and they will wonder what happened.
And in that day, the righteous will be filled with joy and the love of God. That brings me hope.

My husband read a quote to me last night... don't remember who said it or exactly what it was, but basically.... teach the gospel everyday and sometimes use words.
ReplyDeleteVs 25 reminded me of that. Teaching the gospel, testifying of God, being a disciple- it is what you do, not what you say.
