2 Nephi 32

Read online here

This chapter says some pretty powerful things about the Holy Ghost, angels and prayer, but what caught my eye was verse four and my new favorite word: "IF"

In bold letters I have written below this verse, "It is our responsibility!"

We can have it all, IF we choose to.

We can have knowledge, IF we choose to.

In verse four Nephi states very clearly that if we don't understand the words he spake, it was only because we asked not.  We didn't put in the effort; we didn't try.  It is on our shoulders.

It comes down to a simple choice, and yet, so many will not make that choice. So much so that it causes Nephi to mourn (vs 7) because they men choose not to believe and they don't search for knowledge, nor understand it when it is given them so plainly

It's up to us. Do we want it or not?

  1. Thank you for the "if", I really appreciate that.
what stood out to me was prayer.& my responsibility to pay always. This year I have tried to not easy any for that has not been blessed . This chapter has helped me renew my effort to do so...and no, I'm not blessing this groceries as they come into the house :)
this may seem small & picky, but it allows me more gratitude & let's mindless snacking...trying better today this little thing. maybe if I can master this I can be more faithful in bigger things?

  2. Sometimes you read the scriptures and even though you knew it already, there's a "aha" moment. It was that way with vs 8. It's more than just praying for wants, needs and thankfulness, it's praying to have power over Satan. When we pray, we have control over which influence is in our heart and mind. That is why we must pray always, prayers keeps the devil away. Kind of like an apple and the doctor. =)
