3 Nephi 18
3 Nephi 18
I found it interesting how, when Jesus was teaching the people, He would turn and teach the twelve disciples a little more. It's the first recorded Priesthood training session in the Book of Mormon!
There is a lot of great stuff in this chapter: The institution of the Sacrament (which they didn't have becasue they were practicing the Law of Moses), teachings on prayer, the Holy Ghost, etc.
But, verse 32 stuck out to me today. Jesus is telling them to never turn away someone who wants to come to church and worship because "for ye know not but what they will return and repent, and come unto me with full purpose of heart, and I shall heal them; and ye shall be the means of bringing salvation unto them."
We cannot judge those who want to come- regardless of past mistakes/choices. Salvation is for all, and we never know if that particular time is the time they are ready.
I also love how we learn that:
The Savior heals
and we teach.
We are partners with Christ, Saviors on Mount Zion, in helping any and all come to Him.

There are very simple, yet powerful words in this chapter. Watch. Pray. Remember.
ReplyDeleteAnd the concept of building your house on a rock.... a firm foundation. Literally and spiritually.
A reminder that the sacrament must be taken when worthy to do so.
So many things in regards to the Gospel are simple, but they are not always easy.
