Alma 10

Alma 10

This chapter gives a new meaning to Independence Day.   Amulek was oppressed by a hardened heart. This brought him limited perspective and joy.

On the fourth day of the seventh month, an angel appeared to Amulek, and he was freed from his oppression of disbelief.  His eyes were opened and he could see the hand of the Lord in his life.  That single event changed his life, and himself, forever.

That and, of course, his willingness to obey.

Now, I'm not saying that on the Nephite calendar the fourth day of the seventh month is the same as ours- the 4th of July- but I thought it was a cook coincidence :)

Can you imagine what it would be like to have a prophet in your home, blessing you and your family?  When Amulek brought Alma into his home, he stayed with them and blessed them all.  How amazing would that have been?

"...by the prayers of the righteous ye are spared..." The power of the righteous is great.  I feel empowered when I read this.

Can I just say here how cool Amulek is?  The lawyers were trying to trip him up, and he shut them down.  Through the power of God, he was able to discern their thoughts and stop them before they even started. He spoke boldly and courageously before his peers and people.  So cool!

What did you think/learn today?

Comments

  1. The people in these chapters were not listening to the men of God and the warnings that God was trying to give to them through Alma and Amulek.

We will be listening to our modern day prophets and apostles very shortly, giving us warnings and words of wisdom. Are we going to listen to them and obey? Or are we going to be like these wicked people in this chapter?

LISTEN - OBEY - BE BLESSED!
