Alma 9

Alma 9

"Faith is the art of holding on to things your reason has once accepted in spite of your changing moods."

C.S. Lewis

This is one of my favorite quotes.  This chapter made me think of it.  Alma uses the words 'remember' and 'forgotten' six times.  The people of Ammonihah were once believers, but over time they had "forgotten" what they once believed.

Our circumstances and moods fluctuate, and for some, so does their faith.   Times get tough, obedience is difficult, fears take over- we begin to forget our testimonies.  Doubt creeps in we falter.

Keeping the faith means that regardless of the change in circumstances and even our moods, we maintain our testimonies of our Savior and His gospel.  It's not always easy to do, but we read here the price of those who don't.

What did you think/learn today?

  1. Alma had great courage, as do many missionaries, but that is because they have great faith in what they are preaching too.

Here is a thought I read on faith yesterday: Faith is believing in things when common sense tells you not to. Keep believing. No matter how strong the doubts are. You are stronger.
