Mosiah 20

Read online here

It never says how many priests King Noah had, but there were enough left to take 24 Lamanite women. So, it's obvious they were more than just two or three.

A couple great lessons in this chapter:

1. Always be on the look out (verse 8). Be aware of what is going on around you, and be aware of the enemy's tactics (the adversary's tactics)

2. When you fight for a righteous cause, you fight with power and ferocity (verse 11)

3. Jumping to conclusions is bad. Always find out the facts before you act. (that should be cross-stitched onto a pillow!)

4. Show mercy when you can.  The Nephites had to fight and kill to defend their lives, but after they had taken the Lamanite king captive, they bound his wounds before they questioned him. (verse 14)

5. A little compassion goes a long way. It's interesting how much power compassion has. It calmed the Lamanites twice (19:14 and 20:26). Though the Lamanites were the 'bad guys,' we can see that they were not all bad.

I love Gideon. I just see him as this large, wound up, warrior-like man.  He did NOT like King Noah or his priests.
