Alma 23

Alma 23

A couple words stick out to me as I read this chapter: hope and conversion.

There is hope for anyone who wants to come to the Savior with a humble heart and repent. There is hope for our friends that are lost, for our enemies, for ourselves.

Also, the power of conversion is amazing. True conversion is lasting. Though it requires work to keep up, our testimonies are etched into our hearts. We perceive life, our Savior and ourselves differently.  Conversion changes us and where we will end up.

What did you think/learn today?

  1. THis kind of follows up with a topic from our Sunday school lesson yesterday. Conversion and a change of heart. It's not about having, as I call it, a "hallelujah-moment" spirit with you every second of the day. Or constantly looking for that intense feeling as if we only have the spirit with us when we feel it that strong. To me, to be truely converted is about all the little things we do each day. Having a change in our heart makes those little things easier. The hallelujah moments are wonderful, but fleeting as we deal with the day-to-day. It's trying to keep the simple peace of heart The key statement in today's chapter was "converted unto the Lord, never did fall away." Never falling away is the goal.

  2. These were great times for the Lamanite people and for Aaron and his brethren. To have thousands converted must have been a truly joyful thing. And to have the King send out that decree for their safety when teaching - what a huge blessing!! The Anti-Nephi-Lehies were a great people. Just goes to show that even those who we think are beyond saving, can do wonders in the gospel if the spirit works within them.
