Alma 19
Alma 19
There are a couple points in this chapter that struck me. The main purpose of this chapter is told int he last verse, "and we see that his arm is extended to all people who will repent and believe in his name."
One of Satan's greatest tools is to make people believe that they do not deserve to be forgiven. Shame and guilt are his greatest weapons (you could probably add fear to that, too) Perhaps one of the reasons this chapter is in here is to show that if a man like Lamoni could be converted and forgiven, any can be, by the power of the Atonement.
I also love in verse 6 where it talks about the light of everlasting life. I could go on and on about light and Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ- there are many correlations: they travel by light, they appear by great light, light fills people souls, it cleanses, it converts, etc. If it piques your interest, I encourage you to do some personal study about light. It's quite fascinating.
So, what did you think/learn today?

My fave verse was also verse 6 how it said the light of God had infused such joy into his soul. People in the world think that they experience joy or happiness from other things like material possessions etc, but the strongest and best joy comes from God.
ReplyDeleteAmen, Sister!
ReplyDeleteI was doing some random reading through the New Testament this afternoon and found this scripture on light which I thought I'd share.
ReplyDeleteJohn 3:18-21
He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
And this is the condemnation that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.
For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved.
But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.
I liked those verses.
