What joy they must have felt when they discovered the people of Zarahemla!  Can you imagine?  They thought they were alone in this great land, then to discover another people.

I wonder what the blending of cultures and beliefs were like.  What an awesome experience!

I love verse 26, where Amaleki pleads with us to come unto Christ. Isn't that the message of the entire Book of Mormon. It is the message, in fact, of Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. It permeates every nook and cranny of our religion, in every time and in every place.

Come unto Him.

  1. Maybe it's the gray sky or the dismal news... but the wars, contentions, negativity, sin, blasphemy, etc. in the scriptures is such a direct example of the world around us that it sometimes gets a little depressing.

Wouldn't it be great if you could look at a positive story, people rejoicing in the Savior's love and other uplifting things that are out there somewhere instead of the wah-wah-wah all the time?

  2. Amaleki uses the phrase, "discovered a people" then in vs 26, "now my brethren, I would that ye should come unto Christ, who is the Holy One of Israel, and partake of his salvation, and the power of his redemption."
This is our blessed work to do. Discover our dead and bring the opportunity for salvation to them thru the temple.
When I focus some time each day, collecting, organizing records and searching for my family, the challenges of the day, family and the world current events have a different perspective. We went to the temple last night, though the adversary didn't want us to, and the promise of peace filled my soul.
