Jacob 7

Sherem--the first true anti-Christ of the Book of Mormon. How would you like that as your legacy?

It was interesting to note in verse 4 that he was extremely intelligent, having a perfect knowledge of language and, it seems, the psychology of people. I always tell me kids that they have gifts, but that they should use their powers for good.

Sherem didn't.

There are so many amazing things in this chapter!  What was your favorite part?

  1. It is those who are intelligent, charismatic, and well-spoken that have the ability to lead others astray. We get caught up in the satan-must-be-creepy image sometimes, but reality is, he is not a creepy horned monster. He's attractive, witty, intelligent, well-spoken, etc. If the person who is trying to convince us to sin wasn't charismatic- why would anyone listen to them? We must listen carefully to those who appear to be awesome on the surface because it would be easy to get caught up in their words, instead of using the spirit as the filter. Right now, the filter of the Holy Ghost is the greatest gift we have because there are anti-christs all around weaving their words to deceive even the most righteous.

  2. I love vs 8 "the Lord God poured in his Spirit into my soul". I pray for this daily. I need this to live!
