Of verses 5-6 in this chapter, and the matching verses in Isaiah 4, Orson Pratt once said: The time is to come when God will meet with all the congregation of his Saints, and to show his approval and that He does love them, He will work a miracle by covering them in a cloud of His glory. I do not mead something that is invisible, but I meant that same order o things which once existed on earth so far as the tabernacle of Moses was concerned, which was carried in the midst of the children of Jacob as they journeyed in the wilderness...But in the latter days there will be people so pure in Mount Zion, with a house established upon the tops of the mountains, that God will manifest Himself, not only in their temple, and upon all their assemblies, with a visible cloud during the day, but when night shall come, if they shall be assembled for worship, God will meet with them by His pillar of fire; and when they retire to their habitations, behold each habitation will be lighted up by the glory of God- a pillar of flaming fire by night.
Did you hear of any city that was thus favored and blessed since the day that Isaiah delivered this prophecy? No, it is a latter-day work, one that God must consummate in latter times when he begins to reveal Himself, and show forth His power among nations.
What do you all think of that? Do yo think it's happened yet?
A long time ago I used to to transcription work for a Patriarch. Many of the blessings contained this promise, that their homes would be covered by the cloud of God during the day, and protected by His pillar of fire by night. Beautiful imagery and prophecy.
Update: Aches/fever gone. Still coughing, especially morning and night. Stuffy head, drainage, sore throat, headache. But, the good news is that I got out of bed yesterday for the first time in 6 days and went to the store!

I don't think it has been fulfilled yet, but as I was writing this thinking that the scriptures are literal, isn't there a light above my home when the Spirit is here? I believe there is. I also know that there is protection "over" our property. maybe this is what Isaiah was telling us? I can feel it.
ReplyDeleteNight 2 of little sleep from the runniest nose, cold ever. No fun & hard to think.
I hope God shows forth his power in a more outstanding way. At some point it has to be more than figurative demonstrations of his power, doesn't it?
