I love it when Isaiah throw out a beautiful, plain bone among his bits and pieces of prophecy. Verse 9: The show of their countenance doth witness against them...
I've said this before, because I believe it to be true, that when we are judged it will be what on what we've done or thought, but who we've become. How much have we become like Christ? How much of his image do we have in our countenance? We cannot fake that, nor excuse it away. Our countenance will witness to Him of who we are and what we've become.
That being said, what we think, and what we do lead to the state of that countenance, so they are extremely important, as show in verse 10: for they shall eat the fruit of their doings.
I know, for me, I don't want to feel the shame spoken of in verse 17. I want to be able to hold my head high and be told it it is well, as in verse 10.
Flu update: day 7. Hoping to finally get out of bed this today. Cough is the worst thing, and overall fatigue, but on the whole I feel I'm mending well.

I am struck by the vainness & shallowness that this chapter speaks. it is a great reminder of humility and trying to live my life as God would have me.
ReplyDeleteThe fatigue is for you to continue to rest. Take care.
"The Lord standeth up to plead, and standeth to judge the people." Is there a better defense lawyer than Christ? Or a more merciful judge? We are in good hands.
ReplyDelete"In that day the Lord will take away the bravery of their tinkling ornaments" - For some reason this comment hit me this morning. The "bravery" of fashion.
ReplyDeleteI was totally judging another woman the other day, literally shaking my head, because of the the way she was dressed and her haughty attitude. I have since repented for the judging. At my age, I just don't understand the waste of money to keep up appearances when there are more pressing and long term issues to be taken care of.
All the fancy clothes and jewelry the world sees as important to have, that helps one "fit in" or have social "bravery"- those things mean nothing. The important fashion statement is the countenance, if the spirit of the Lord is residing in the heart.
In my little world, meaning me, myself, and I, we don't care much anymore for uncomfortable shoes and the latest styles. Although, I would consider it very brave to wear those popular platform, spiked 5" heels while chasing small children, 'cause I would certainly fall and break my ankles. No stylish shoes are worth that hassle and financial set back.
