Alma 8

Read online here

Sometimes when I read the Book of Mormon it feels like time flies (for them.) Then I realize things like the past two chapters covered a year of Alma's life, not just two speeches. He ministered, preached and served for a year, and now he gets to rest a bit--but not for too long.

Then he went back to work.

I love how, in verse 18, not only did Alma obey the angel by returning to Ammonihah, but he did it speedily. Alma was so eager to do God's will that he didn't waste any time second-guessing, worrying, doubting, stressing. He just went and did, and did it quickly.

I love how the Lord didn't tell Alma to find Amulek. He had an angel tell Amulek in a dream how he would meet Alma, and who he was. They became powerful missionary companions.

It's amazing to me how the Lord orchestrates His work among us. He doesn't give us all the answers we want or think we need, but through others He makes sure we get what we need. Love it.
