God has always been a God of order, and so is His church. Since the time of Adam, whenever the gospel has been on the earth, there has been order. Even during the times of Moses when the higher law was taken way. (The Law of Moses was perhaps the most rigid of all the orders of God.)
It is nice to see the consistency in the way the Lord runs his affairs in earth. The same priesthood that Alma used to ordain men was the very same priesthood my husband used to ordain my son, and in the same manner.
It shows continuity abroad, and creates a common, glorious strand that links us together regardless of when and where we live here.
