Mosiah 5

Verse 12 and 13 stuck out to me today "but that ye hear and know the voice by which ye shall be called.."
I went to a baptism the other day and heard a wonderful talk on the Holy Ghost. As I read these verses I thought of one of the object lessons she used.
She asked the little girl to close her eyes and listen to a person talk. Then she was to raise her hand when she recognized their voice. She closed her eyes and the first person began to read off of a paper. Immediately the little girl's hand went up. "That's my sister." She beamed. The same thing happened when her brother and her other sister read. Each time the little hand shot up and she grinned, because each time she immediately recognized the voice.
The speaker asked, "Why do you think you recognized their voices so easily?"
The little thought for a moment, then replied, "Cuz they're always around me and I always hear them and talk to them."
I love that example, and that lesson.
It's by that same process that we will come to know the Lord's voice. As we strive to have Him always around us, we will hear Him talk, and we will talk to Him. Through this process He will become so familiar to us that we will recognize Him immediately when He speaks.
