2 Nephi 5

Read Online

Short and sweet today:

Love verses 10 and 11 and 17:The Lord was with and they prospered- but by the work of their own hands. They didn't wait for a handout.  They didn't blame the Lord because they had to work.  They knew the importance and value in it.  I think that's lost somewhat in today's world.

An industrious people are a happy people.

Sorry- wish I had more time- but I don't today!  I hope you'll have some great things to share! It's a great chapter with lots of good stuff in it!

  1. Some days it would be nice to gather my family, pick up our tents and head off into the peace of the wilderness away from the negativity of the society we live in. Unfortunately, there are not many places to go anymore! I have to find peace, safety, work, play, prosperity and industry where I am at.

  2. I find it interesting that Nephi was praying to God because of the anger of his brethren. I assume he was asking God to help them calm down a bit. Instead, God says, get up and leave. It was a moment when I was reminded that oft times what we ask for and what we get are not always the same thing, but it's a resolution to the problem that is at the heart of the matter.

As an example, I'd been praying for a raise since Dec 3. My company didn't give me one during the last phase of increases so I was a little bummed but was praying for something else to happen. Turns out, I got a cold call through LinkedIn for a new job and it came with a nice raise.

Was I specifically asking for a new job? No. But the Lord had bigger and better things in mind for me.
